Like all the legendary delta blues bands to come out of Mexico, Missouri, Machete Dave and the Roadside Attractions was born in the parking lot of the Cinema III. Inspired by a Sunday matinee screening of “Wild Hogs,” the three founding members of the group (podiatrist “Dirrrty Jack” Jill Jackson, IT assistant Pete “Birdman” Bellermo and call center technician Tommy “Juggs” Siemisciwitz) agreed to parlay their three years of high school band training into a side career, playing weekly gigs at the Mexico Lanes bowling alley off State Highway 54.
It was only after the addition of Machete Dave Rosenberg that the band found real critical success. The product of a childhood spent in choir training from some of central Missouri’s more insurrection-prone “churches”, Rosenberg’s trademark “shrieking whine” style connected with audiences from Perryville to Fulton. The wild-eyed, dialated-pupilled front man has the Mexico Lanes jumping each and every Tuesday night from 2 p.m. til 4:15 p.m.
Machete Dave and The Roadside Attractions is available for parties and special occasions, serving locations within 20 miles of the Audrain County Courthouse. For booking information, contact mdatra@yahoo.com.
